Ferrari & Maserati
NC Architects asked Planet Partitioning to provide specification for the internal glazing of a brand new Ferrari Maserati showroom in Swindon, with a smoked laminate glass finish.
Our solution
To meet the brief, Planet Partitioning used p20 single glazed demountable partitioning with smoked laminate glass finish on optiwhite glass, then combined this carefully with low-iron glass to give the client the exact colour they wanted.
The requirement covered two floors and some of the partitioning formed a balustrade for the edge between them. Eclipse sliding doors ensured a highly premium, clean-line look and feel – and several doors were patch-hinged to address key deflection head requirements.
The partitioning created a series of offices, showrooms and client-entertaining rooms and, as part of the package, Planet Partitioning also created a membrane ceiling across a recess area within the showroom ceiling. This now enhances key illumination areas for the cars by softening the light.
Project insights
One of the key challenges of the project was to ensure key sections of partitioning followed a tight curve, 350mm in diameter. To do this, Planet Partitioning curved the tracks holding the glass. Curved glass was used in atrium curved glazing as well as general areas.
To achieve the exact colour required for the partitioning, Planet Partitioning produced a range of samples for sign-off before installation.
