PROJECT. OBJECTIVES

Client Equinox Gyms

Equinox Gyms is a luxury fitness club owned by US-based Equinox Fitness.

Overbury approached Planet to carry out all the internal glazing requirements as part of a Category-B fit-out for Equinox’s new London flagship gym – the historic, Grade-II listed Art Deco Derry & Toms Building.

OUR
SOLUTION.

Equinox Gym’s illuminated elliptical dome is its central architectural feature. Planet complemented the building’s natural curvature by curving the partitioning channels gently before installing PURE20 curved glazing. In addition, Planet installed several frameless pivoted glass doors to ensure maximum visibility and a stunning, seamless look.

As part of the schedule of work, Planet also provided bespoke office frontages, including a striking triangular timber surround and Eclipse sliding doors.

Planet was also responsible for installing the draught lobbies, with FireStop partitioning to ensure EI 30 fire integrity and insulation. Equinox Gym opened after three months’ work.

    PROJECT INSIGHTS.

As the building is Grade II listed, work had to retain the aesthetics of the original building. The new gym occupies the fifth floor of 99 Kensington High Street, directly below the famous flamingo-filled roof garden.
