Planet Partitioning shows ambition with internal glazing at Ampersand Building in London

Planet Completes Stunning Atrium at Ampersand

Planet Partitioning are delighted to announce the completion of our stunning new atrium and stairwell at Ampersand in the heart of the West End. Planet worked with McLaren Construction and Darling Associates to design, manufacture and install the bespoke architectural glazing for this project.

The refurbishment of the space into luxury residential flats and offices in Soho provided the opportunity to ‘transform a London landmark’. The atrium now features a unique living staircase commissioned specially for the building and designed by Paul Cocksedge Studio. The staircase features areas to sit, meet and think explains Paul. “If a staircase is essentially about going from A to B there is now a whole world living and breathing in the space between the two”. Creating the curved balustrade was a challenge Planet met by using 25.5mm low iron toughened laminate glass. The modern and clean look of glass complimented the earthy wood and green vegetation used to adorn the staircase.

The staircase is featured inside a large atrium that runs the full height of the building. Planet used full height frameless 15.5mm low iron toughened laminate glass to complete the atrium. Again this stunning atrium needed curved glass jotting out of the floor plate to create a fluid feel that compliments the spiralling staircase. Planet designed and installed the steel framework that carry the glass and the glass spandrel panels, finished with stainless steel trims. Planet Partitioning would like to thank the McLaren Group and Darling Associates for the opportunity of working with them on this new London icon.
