Planet Architectural Glass Design Atrium for Cathedral SQ in Guildford

The Cathedral Square development in Guildford is part of a larger regeneration scheme, taking part across the city centre. A mixture of redeveloping existing buildings and building on brownfield sites, the scheme aims to provide the ever-growing city with more residential, retail and commercial facilities.

Close to the Surrey Research Park, Cathedral Square aims to become a commercial hub for the city, offering everything from co-working spaces to dedicated offices for local blue-chip companies. Planet Architectural Glass is working under Overbury and HLM Architects as a Main Contractor on site over the duration of our time on site, liaising with other sub-contractors to ensure the smooth running of site. At the heart of the structure will be the central full height atrium. Planet Architectural Glass will be designing and installing this atrium with toughened laminated glass and pre-fabricated steel. By using steel brackets at the edge of the slab to place the framework and glass on, Planet will increase the floor space for corridors running along the first floor.
