Defining your look – industrial style

Defining your look – industrial style

It’s time to redesign your space, but what look is best for you?

Some will go into a project with a clear, defined image of exactly what they want, while others might need to look around to find their style inspiration. At Planet, we know that inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere. Our own LOFT20, LOFT54 and LOFT100 products were inspired by the East London industrial trend, which can be spotted around the likes of Brick Lane and Shoreditch High Street.

Defining your look with the industrial theme, often means exposing the building’s original features – think exposed brickwork, original timber flooring and panelled glazing. The ethos of the industrial design is raw and edgy. Deeply rooted in buildings which were left derelict after the industrial revolution – it is a celebration of your building’s original design elements. Even if you’re working with a blank canvas, these themes can easily be invoked with some creativity.

A key element to the industrial look is slim, black framed glazing, first made popular in the ‘Art Deco’ era when the factories, turned apartments or offices, were built. Planet’s LOFT system enables you to achieve this vintage aesthetic, while maintaining essential modern building requirements. Our LOFT range is a 20mm, 54mm or 100mm wide glass partition system with mullions and transoms. The slender framework and striking bands lends itself to a multitude of environments and is increasingly popular in corporate and residential projects.

The LOFT panelled glass partition allows for flexibility like no other partitioning system. LOFT gives you the opportunity to get creative by adjusting both the spacing and width of the mullions and transoms and using different angles and patterns. A variety of infill finishes are available, such as coloured, reeded and mesh glass. The system is ideal when combined with frameless, all glass doors, which can have banding applied for a consistent look. If privacy is required, without compromising on aesthetics, LOFT can be combined with the single glazed, minimal framed glass door, IsoTec.

Defining your look matters, and here at Planet we can help you understand which look suits your environment. The five key looks we offer are, industrial, contemporary, dynamic, form and bespoke. Get in contact with us to discuss your design needs more in-depth.
